SOCIETY FOX ORCHESTRA

What do you get when you combine old musical arrangements with a young woman, who adores the glamour of days gone by? Inspired by the bands playing in the lounges of American hotels in the 1920´s and 30´s, Annika Brushane gathered musicians to play the old arrangements: music from charleston to songs from Hollywood-movies. That was the birth of THE SOCIETY FOX ORCHESTRA in 1988!

SFO is a group of experienced musicians who love the era and enjoy exploring original arrangements. The saxophone-section is Kimmo Leppälä, Annika Brushane, Niko Paakkunainen and Pauli Leppälä. The brass includes trumpet players Timo Paasonen, Raimo Korhonen & Albinus Borg, trombonists Juhani Komulainen & Pelle Näätänen. The rhythm is kept by Jukka Järvelä (gtr/bjo), Curre Quarnström (b), Jartsa Karvonen (drs) & Robi de Godzinsky (p).

Annika Brushane

Annika Brushane was born in a family of big band-musicians. Parents Anneli & Ole and brother Martin inspired her to choose the alto- & baritonesax and play in the family band Martin Brushane Big Band. She had a dream of a big band of her own and ended up starting two: The Society Fox Orchestra (1988) & Ladies First Big Band (1993).

SOCIETY FOX ORCHESTRA has published two albums: ”Tanssimaan sua pyydän” (1990) and ”As time goes by” (2019).
